Introducing an EPIC novel in four parts: In The Blood
Touch Sensitive has just launched, but soon I’ve got something MASSIVE in store – an epic novel I think you’re gonna love!
Over the last few months of 2016 I accidentally wrote a really, really long book. We’re talking way over 100,000 words of book. Given that most BAMs have been coasting the 50,000 word mark, and Touch Sensitive came in at around 90,000, you can imagine how shocked I was that I accidentally wrote an epic novel.
It blends horror and sci-fi, bits of supernatural thriller with touches of romance – there’s so much damn plot and character and story and emotion in the damn thing, I feel kinda dumb for thinking it would end up a short, sharp novel like all the others I’ve published…
However, as I was going through my second draft, I realised that the entire thing felt episodic – as it was intended to be when I first came up with it almost a decade ago as four seasons worth of TV show…
I dove back in, ripped it apart and put it back together again, as happens
in every edit process – and it ended up feeling like a journey that, as with pre-binge watching, is best experienced with breathing room between episodes.
So, rather than release it in one massive chunk, In The Blood is going to be serialised in four parts, each released on the first Friday of March, April, May and June.
Here’s the synopsis for our first part:
Ben Graham has always dreamed of monsters, ever since he witnessed his mother’s murder as a child.
All too soon, Ben will become such a monster, as he plots to kill the man who took her life.
However, fate will step in the way, open his eyes to a dark, disturbing world that resides in the shadows.
He will discover that not only are there real monsters out there, but that he is uniquely qualified to destroy them…Because Ben’s blood is not like everyone else’s: it’s alive, and it has a ravenous hunger that can’t be sated.
