Supernatural thriller SHADOWMANCER out Jan 6th

Touch Sensitive isn’t coming out ’til February, so I’ve had five days to write a brand new supernatural thriller!

This is exactly how the second year of ABAM should kick off, right? Plus, a frantic rush to put together a massive supernatural thriller is the perfect end to a crazy year…

You guys have been amazing and so supportive through this whole thing, and I can’t wait to show you what else I have in store for you. But that will have to wait. Let’s kick this off with the synopsis for January’s title, Shadowmancer:

Jules was born with a gift, but until now, he’s only used it for small and selfish reasons.
That will all change as he’s inducted into The Circle, a secret international organisation that takes the magickally gifted and puts them to work, fighting the forces of darkness, saving an unknowing world from malevolence that hide in the shadows.
And Jules knows shadows all too well; he can command them to do his bidding…

But it’s not just The Circle that has their eye on Jules. There’s another Magickian that watches him, intervening in his life, trying to put him on a path to discover the truth.

Because The Circle is not what it seems. The world is not as it seems.
And soon, Jules will have to choose between the status quo or the greater good.
Either way, the lives of everyone he loves will hang in the balance.

It’s a wild ride, of that I can assure you. Twists and turns, with heavy emotional beats and some humor to boot. What better way to kick off a new year?

Where the hell did this come from, you (don’t) ask?

Well, Shadowmancer is the first novel in ‘The Circle’ series, each of which will be standalone supernatural thriller novels following operatives working under the auspices of the secret magickal espionage agency The Circle.

As with so many of the BAMs, The Circle was originally intended to be a television show, and technically was meant to be a spin-off of the multiverse featured in What A Way To End The World, because I’m the kind of guy who goes into a room saying;

“I’ve got a pitch for you, it’s an epic, expensive television show, and also I’ve got four spin-offs already mapped out.”

And then get fired instantly.

So with literally five days to write a book, I leafed through all the incoherent notes I had made about The Circle, picked the storyline that had the most interesting lead and smoothest entry into what is technically a vastly complex bureaucratic world with all manner of Lovecraftian creatures, drank too much coffee (thanks to Root Coffee for putting up with me, my mumbles to myself, and occasional insistence on reading dialogue out loud as I type it…) and knocked out around 10,000 words a day.

And right now, I’m in the studio, taking a break with a ginger, honey and lemon tea (and a cigarette, because I do not treat my vocal chords kindly) whilst I record the audiobook, because all of it is due in on Jan 2nd to hit the Jan 6th release date.

*Phew*

Ok, all those words are out, you know what’s going on with the supernatural thriller Shadowmancer , and now I need to get back in the box and talk to myself.
