This month: a hilarious murder mystery farce
I’ve been distracted with work this month past – but that doesn’t mean I haven’t crammed in time to get a BAM out…
This book, I warn you now, is hilarious.
That’s not me saying that as an author, that’s me as a reader. When I dug up these notes, I literally fell off my chair laughing.
I think I scribbled this concept out in a fever dream many years ago, intending it to be a radio play – because nobody would ever put this on a screen. It might have been inspired by Gosford Park. It might have just been inspired by wanting to mashup all manner of detective procedurals into one single piece that turns them all into a farce.
As in true Columbo style, we see the murder in our cold open. Except it’s not a murder – it’s death by natural causes.
Then we meet his three children, who stand to inherit his massive wealth – but only on the condition that they solve his murder.
Each of the three is allotted a detective:
A Sherlock Holmes type, who is a massive drug addict.
A miss Marple type, who is a randy octogenarian.
A CSI type, who really loves science, and loves bugs even more.
And it goes in a downward spiral of insanity from there.
There’s also a LOT of creative use of bad language.
Consider yourself warned against reading this to your children…
